I have spent years working in diverse, often marginalized, communities

Born and raised in New York City to Egyptian parents, I have spent years working in diverse, often marginalized, communities where I worked to empower individuals through education, leadership, and cultural exchange.

  • The idea of preservation — not just of material culture but of the intangible forces that define identity, history, and memory — serves as the bedrock of my work.

Now, as an artist, I want to continue this work in a different capacity — not by teaching in the traditional way, but by creating art that engages and inspires others to think critically about the world around them. My experiences in education and consulting in fragile and 'developing' contexts have provided me with a unique perspective on the world, which informs my artistic practice, grounded in themes of preservation, life, and cultural heritage.

My artistic journey began in 2009 as a means of processing my experiences and, over time, evolved into a multidisciplinary exploration of the delicate and often precarious balance between human existence, cultural preservation, and ecological sustainability. The idea of preservation — not just of material culture but of the intangible forces that define identity, history, and memory — serves as the bedrock of my work. My focus has been on addressing the narratives of impermanence and the struggle to safeguard both physical and cultural landscapes in contexts where survival and preservation are often at odds.
